THE MOSSLEY Correspondent and sister paper, Saddleworth Independent, have become the first newspapers in the country to sign the Pledge to Peace.
The Pledge is a European project which aims to promote the development of peace education to enhance the well being of people.
Aimee Belmore, the newspapers’ Editor pictured above, said: “War and disruption fill the news on a local, national and global level.
“But if each of us takes more time to bring peace into our own lives and community, we can help to build a better world.”
Richard Outram, secretary for the Oldham Pledge to Peace Forum, said: “It was wonderful to witness a first for Britain as the Saddleworth Independent and Mossley Correspondent signed the Pledge to Peace.
“We are looking forward to working with Aimee and her team to bring the good news about peace to the residents of Mossley and Saddleworth.”
Any local civic, community and faith organisations or schools who want to find out more or sign the Pledge to Peace should contact Richard via firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07583 097793.
