May elections: Choose your candidate

THE NAMES are in and the race is on for Mossley’s Borough and Town Council elections on Thursday, May 5.

Ten candidates are chasing two seats for the Mossley Ward on Tameside Borough Council caused by Idu Miah’s resignation last February and Ellie Shember-Critchley’s decision not to stand for re-election.

They are:

  • Lesley Bill (Independent)
  • Christine Clark (Green Party)
  • Claire Hardisty (Independent)
  • Jack Homer (Labour)
  • Martin Kiely (Liberal Democrats)
  • Christine Lyness (Independent)
  • Phil Rogers (Conservative)
  • Tafheen Sharif (Stalybridge)

Meanwhile five people are in the running to fill a Cheshire Ward vacancy on Mossley Town Council:

  • Christine Clark
  • Martin Kiely
  • Irene Raddings (Independent)
  • Julia Robinson (Independent)
  • Frank Travis (Labour and Co-operative Party)

Voters will receive their polling card in the post which will tell them where to vote.

If you can not get to the ballot box, please apply for a postal vote by 5pm on Tuesday, April 19 or for a vote by proxy by 5pm on Tuesday, April 26.
