A NEW housing development for flood hit Micklehurst is being advertised for sale.
News of the ‘Buckton View’ sales earmarked for the top of Micklehurst Road will bewilder and stun locals who have been hit by three floods in the last 12 months.
Indeed, the Environment Agency has just confirmed Micklehurst Road is likely to remain closed until April 2018 to allow repair works to begin on the culverted section of the river.
H C Developments describe the plot as: “Well situated at the top of Micklehurst Road with views over to Buckton Castle, Buckton View comprises 36 houses finished in attractive local stone, in a low-density development.
“Featuring lots of open space, it is and ideal environment for children to play safely away from traffic.
“You can choose from four different house types, ranging from a charming terrace to a spacious four bed detached house.
“The Help to Buy scheme is available which means buyers only need to find a 5 per cent deposit.”
A public consultation for the site took place in 2010. A report was later presented indicating concerns of flooding.
Point 3.12 of the document stated: “A Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) has been prepared and is submitted with this application along with detailed drainage design.
“The site is located in Flood Zone One which has the lowest probability of flooding of all the flood zones and is the preferential location for housing development.”
