Have your say on Cotton Clouds 2018

ORGANISERS of Cotton Clouds music festival are looking for public input prior to a license application for the 2018 event.

The event is booked in for Saturday, August 18 and will again take place at Saddleworth Cricket Club, Greenfield.

More than 3,000 people attended last year’s inaugural Festival headlined by the Sugarhill Gang and the Coral.

Planning for the Cotton Clouds II is underway, but the Festival committee want to engage with residents to minimise any disruption.

They have now confirmed a public meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 28 at the Cricket Club off Manchester Road starting at 7pm.

Letters inviting home owners to the meeting have already been sent to properties in Mossley and Saddleworth.

Organisers, including brothers Rick and Max Lees, says:” The feedback we had about the Festival last year was hugely positive.

“Many residents and local businesses stated traffic and parking, as well as patrons of the event, were managed well and under control.

“While there was minor disruption during the week of the event to local footpaths and walking routes, the majority of local residents felt the event was positive for the community, generating income and interest in Saddleworth and the surrounding areas.

“These are all objectives we strive to meet again as we look to grow the event into a fixture in the calendar for the local area to look forward to.

“Our aim is to produce a successful event with as little impact to the local community as possible.

“We feel, as local ourselves, that engagement with our community is vital to the event to ensure the benefits of Cotton Clouds are passed back to Saddleworth.

“Therefore, we’d love to hear from yourselves which local charity you feel we should support this year.

Cotton Clouds was shortlisted for ‘Best Small Festival’ Online at the 2017 UK Festival Awards.
