PLANS for a 14-home development at Egmont Street, Mossley, has been given the go-ahead by Tameside Council.
A speaker’s panel decision was required because the application constituted a major development and included the requirement of a section 106 legal agreement by which the developer makes a contribution to infrastructure in the area.
The proposal from McKay Homes was for outline planning permission for the demolition of the existing industrial units at Unit 14 Glover Centre and to erect 14 dwellings – eight townhouses and a block of six apartments.
The section 106 stipulates the developer must contribute almost £8,500 to improve play equipment at Egmont Street Playing Fields and more than £2,600 towards improving pedestrian access along Manchester Road.
Speakers panel heard there had been a “significant revision” to the layout that was originally put forward and there were no objections.
