BEING more than just accountants is proving the recipe for success after Your Tax Shop scooped four major awards in a month.
The Ashton-based business, which started in Mossley, makes sure it does its bit for the community and local organisations by way of helping them and raising funds for them.
Willow Wood Hospice has seen a five-figure sum raised on its behalf in the last year and children’s charity Variety has also benefitted from its actions.
Currently it is running a competition where people can win two tickets to see the musical Wicked, with all proceeds going to Willow Wood.
And its work is obviously being noticed as it won the prize for Social Responsibility and Danny Harris lifted Apprentice of the Year at the recent Pride of Tameside Business Awards.
It also walked away with Small Firm of the Year and Client Excellence Firm of the Year at the IRIS Customer Awards.
“We’re more than just accountants, we’ve never been like that,” said senior partner Yvonne Cookson from Your Tax shop, which is based on Old Street.
“We’ve always wanted to be different and not your stereotypical accountancy firm and I’m a huge believer that if you’re successful, you should give back into the community like helping local charities and we’ve been doing more and more.
“Willow Wood has been our main charity as so many people are affected by conditions and helped out by them. They’re such good people in such an amazing place
“We won the awards we wanted to win at both ceremonies, things could not be going any better for us at the moment.”
Your Tax Shop boasts about 1,300 clients spread across its 12-person team, with Yvonne estimating that four to six a week are signing up.
And things are certainly not quiet as Yvonne said: “It’s quite seasonal and we’re just entering peak season but it’s always busy!”
