TEENAGER Madeleine Wrigley has her heart set on becoming a radio presenter.
And the 13-year-old Mossley Hollins High School pupil has already taken the first steps by helping out at Oldham Community Radio.
Indeed, the year nine pupil has even gone solo by presenting her own ‘My Music’ show on the station.
Madeleine, who is studying media at school, got to choose the music for the programme and also did all the links.
It should be no surprise that she has an interest as her grandfather Gerald Brierley is a long-standing presenter of Oldham Today on Oldham Community Radio as well as doing rugby league commentaries for the station.
Gerald, who lives in Royton, is a retired headmaster who takes a keen interest in community news.
Helen Wrigley, Madeleine’s mother, said: “She has been a number of times to help out, researching things like births and deaths.
“Madeleine has even presented her own show when she got to choose the music and do all the links.”
The former Micklehurst All Saints’ pupil has an eye set on a job one day at MediaCity, ideally as a radio presenter. She is a fan of Hits Radio and Radio X.
Helen said: “Madeleine likes listening to the radio, especially the news, and takes a particular interest in people’s voices.
“She had learned a lot from her granddad in speaking clearly and warmly and making the listener feel they are a friend.”
