YOUNG Mossley cricketer Tom Diveney ran away with two batting awards at his club’s presentation night.
The 12-year-old Mossley Hollins High School pupil won the Under-11s and U13s batting awards at Dukinfield Cricket Club.
And Tom, who is a left-hand batsman who can bowl, also had his season’s top score playing for the U15s.
It is only two years since Tom, who lives on Cheshire Street, took up cricket.
“Tom has always had natural hand/eye co-ordination and took to cricket like a duck to water. He is a natural and loves the game,” explained dad Peter.
It ought to be no surprise Tom, who also plays football for Mossley Juniors, should excel at cricket as Peter was also a promising player having represented Cheshire as a junior and played for Stalybridge until being forced to quit the game at an early age through a serious illness.
