ALICIA and Graham Harris held a coffee morning to raise money for grandson Jordan Harris who leaves in February for a three-month volunteering trip to Africa.

A coffee morning was held to help raise funds for their grandson’s trip

Top Mossley’s Jordan, 18, who will be helping to tackle poverty in Tanzania with Raleigh Interna-tional as part of the UK Government funded International Citizen Service programme, needed to raise £800.

Jason, a former pupil at Micklehurst All Saints and Mossley Hollins High School, held fundraising events including a sponsored walk and supermarket bag pack.

The last event was the coffee morning that Alicia and Graham, formerly of Heyrod, held at their home in Hadfield, the proceeds of which helped Jordan reach his target.

The coffee morning was supported by members of Audenshaw Masonic Lodge, who gave £100, Ashton-under-Lyne Soroptimist International and St George’s Church, Stalybridge.

Jordan, who recently left Ashton Sixth Form College, will be helping with the SWASH project (school water, sanitation and hygiene).

It will include building new toilet and hand washing facilities in schools.
