MOSSLEY band Cabbage are heading back out on the road – but you will have to wait for that hometown gig at Mossley AFC.
The Correspondent has reported how band member Lee Broadbent revealed on national radio how he would love to headline a gig at Seel Park.
Hopes were raised when Mossley chairman Gary Dean admitted he would like to speak to them about holding a show there.
But Cabbage’s dreams have been put on hold after their latest tour was unveiled, without their hometown gig.
Lee did not hide his ambitions in a broadcast on national radio station BBC 6 Music.
He said: “Hopefully it will be a place where we can put on a headline show at some point.
“We haven’t even begun to make discussions yet but one can only hope.”
And Mr Dean revealed he would like to speak to them about the prospect of a show.
He said: “At this stage we haven’t had a formal approach from the group or their management.
“I haven’t met the band but I would like to. I have listened to their stuff and it’s very energetic, I like it.
“Going forward we intend to try and work on making Seel Park a hub for the Mossley community and this also means exploring what events we could host in the future.”
This year sees Cabbage play in Liverpool before two gigs in Manchester at new venue Yes and The Deaf Institute before heading to Norwich, London, Cambridge, Bristol, Brighton, Leeds, Leicester and Glasgow.
