Police investigation launched following attempted abduction in Mossley

POLICE are investigating claims two men attempted to abduct a nine-year-old boy in Mossley.

Officers were called out after the alleged incident on Queensway after reports people travelling in a dark coloured car, possibly a W plate, approached the child as he played on Sunday, May 12.

One is believed to have attempted to grab the boy and bundle him into the vehicle before it made off towards Regents Drive.

An investigation is now underway and Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “At around 5.45pm yesterday (Sunday, May 12) police were called to Queensway in Mossley, to reports that two men in a dark coloured car, possibly W registered, had attempted to abduct a nine-year-old boy.

“The car was then seen to drive off towards Regents Drive.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
