Long service award honour for Mossley AFC women’s manager

THE long service of Chris Brooks, Mossley AFC Women’s manager, has been recognised by the Manchester County FA.

Chris was honoured at their Grassroots Awards, held at the Midland Hotel, for 15-years’ work with girls and women’s football.

He said: “I was shocked to be nominated and nice to be rewarded for your work.

“I was a great night and I got to speak to former England international Rachel Yankee.”

The women’s team staged a 10k sponsored walk around Dovestone and Indian Head and which is hoping to raise £1,000 towards club funds.

Interest has been so good that Mossley are also launching an Under-9 girls’ team which will be based at Medlock Sports Centre, Droylsden. It is to be sponsored by Vevas indo bistro from Stalybridge.

Chris will initially set up the team which will then be handed over to senior women’s player Abbey Rogers to run.

Mossley are also hoping to set up girls’ teams in other age groups.
