AMY Shadbolt and Helen Gregory were in the prizes as the Mossley AFC Running Club members tamed the Millbook Monster.
The gruelling 10k is based in Stalybridge Country Park and is a circular route of Walkerwood Reservoir, Harridge Pike, Higher Swineshaw Reservoir and Brushes Valley before finishing with a loop of the country park.
All finishers receive a chip butty and Amy was third female finisher and first female in the F40+ class category. Helen was winner of the F45+ category with a large number of club members also completing this year’s run.
Amy also enjoyed success in the Black Knight Charge as first female finisher (45mins 16secs) in this six-mile trail race organised by East Cheshire Harriers.
Victoria Carter, as part of her fundraising for Emmaus, arranged The Endure 2.4 event at Stamford Park.
Participants had 2.4 hours to complete as many laps of Stamford Park as they could which is a 10 per cent replication of the Endure 24 event that Victoria will be completing soon.
A number of club members travelled to Dublin to complete the Rock’n’Roll 10k or half marathon.
Claire Whitehead and Jack Homer both achieved sub 60-minute results for the 10K and the remaining team members completed the half marathon which finished in Dublin’s Phoenix Park.
During the same weekend the unusual event of Man (or woman) V Barge was also held. The aim is to be faster than the barge as it travels the five miles from Marsden to Diggle through Standedge tunnel.
All club members were faster than the barge by finishing in the following times. Paul Anderson (13th) 40mins 36 secs, Sharon White 1 hr 4 min, Nicola Steen, Helen Wrigley and Claire Whitehead all completed in 1:10.
Joe Carroll and Ian Townley completed the Whitworth Trail Half Marathon in just over three hours.
This relatively new event and can be completed at half marathon, full marathon or Ultra distance.
