MOSSLEY AFC Women returned to action after a month long lay-off with two games in three days, both against West Didsbury and Chorlton.
It was a frustrating time as three successive games against Langho, Tameside United and Urmston Meadowside were postponed.
It was an unhappy return as Mossley lost 3-2 in division one of the Greater Manchester Women’s League, substitute Thaila Morley scoring both goals.
Three days later and they exacted revenge with a 4-1 win against the same opponents, this time in the second round of the division one cup, Grace Burke scoring twice while Elie Clarkson and Natalie Leaver also found the net.
There was further frustration on Sunday, October 20 when Mossley had to concede their Manchester FA County Cup, first-round tie against FC United as they were unable to raise a team because they had nine players injured.
One piece of cheer on the injury front is the return of captain Mia Riley who damaged a cruciate knee ligament injury pre-season.
Mossley have back-to-back away games against Ashton United on Sunday, October 27 and Sunday, November 3 in the league and Greater Manchester Women’s League Open Age Cup.
They are next at home to Heyside Angels on Sunday, November 24. The game at Seel Park kicks off at 2pm and admission is free.
Mossley AFC Women are looking for sponsorship, including matchday, and for their U9 Mini Lilys.
