A MOSSLEY curry chef is celebrating after collecting a prestigious award while also receiving national recognition at the Asian food ‘Oscars’ in London.
Loyal and regular customers at Chutney Massala on Manchester Road are well aware of the culinary skills of Mohammed Zahed Miah.
But his reputation is spreading after being named North of England Asian Chef of the Year.
Mohammed was also one of four shortlisted for National Chef of the Year at the ninth annual Asian Curry Awards held at the Grosvenor Hotel, London.
While that particular accolade went to Avadhoot Kamat from Zaman’s Restaurant at Marble Arch, Mohammed was delighted with the recognition for himself and Chutney Massala.
“Everyone at Chutney Massala would like to thank all those who voted,” said owner Jubayer Chowdhury.
“We will aim for bigger and better ambitions in the future.
“We also hope everyone will join us at our celebratory event on Tuesday, December 3.”
Mohammed received his certificates of achievement at a ceremony attended by Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, and hosted by stand-up comedian Cally Beaton.
