Magical circus experience in Mossley to include sign language interpreter for first time

A TRIP to the circus is a magical experience, and community interest company Circus Starr have made their forthcoming shows in Mossley even more accessible with the inclusion of a British Sign Language interpreter.

The Winter Circus, their annual winter extravaganza, is being held at the George Lawton Hall on Sunday, January 26 and features two fun-filled performances at 1.30pm and 4pm.

Circus Starr brings all the fun of the circus to children and families that may have found this difficult in the past, from children with disabilities to low income families to those with a life-limiting condition.

The inclusion of a British Sign Language interpreter is a first in the company’s 32-year history and will enhance and open the circus to deaf audience members.

Michelle Crossley, Circus Starr’s fundraising director, said: “This is the first time that we have held our event in the area with an interpreter and we are really excited.

“Circus Starr aims to be as inclusive as possible and we work really hard to offer these kinds of projects.

“We hope that this service means that our deaf audience members don’t miss out on a thing, from our clowns jokes to our ringmasters’ announcements.”

This year’s performance sees ringmaster Joel Hatton present circus skills from Romy Bauer and foot juggling from Germaine Delbosq and comedy from lovable clowns Andreea and Nicolino.

And the generosity of community driven businesses mean that disadvantaged families are able to receive free tickets to the circus, where they will make memories to cherish for a lifetime.

The organisation runs purely on donations from businesses in each area they visit. To make a contribution,  call 01260 288690 or email donations@circus-starr.org.uk.

Audience members who require seating close to the British Sign Language interpreter can reserve tickets also by calling 01260 288690.
