YOU HAVE read about the hunt for Willie Wonka’s golden ticket and the £5 plastic notes with hidden engravings of Jane Austen?
Well, Mossley will have its own hunt to produce a prize winning secret at this year’s Marvellous Mossley event on Saturday, July 8.
There will be 10 clues to be collected and taken to MM headquarters at George Lawton Hall to be deciphered.
But that’s only half the fun as the clues will be attached to 10 mammoths that MM organisers want the town’s community groups to make in the coming months.
Once made, the mammoths will live in various public venues two weeks prior to the event.
Participating organisations will be provided with a ‘naked’ Mammoth to work on to make a spectacular arty ‘Heffalump’ reflecting what the groups making them are all about.
They should be constructed using recycled and repurposed materials where possible. Your Mammoth can be flat or fat, smooth coated or woolly.
To help create the beasts three Mammoth making classes will be held throughout May.
They will take place on:
- Wednesday, May 10, 6pm to 9pm, at The Vale;
- Saturday, May 13, 2-5pm at Mossley Community Centre;
- Sunday, May 21, 2-5pm Mossley Community Centre
