YOU COULD travel to London, Paris or Madrid to see stunning works of art by world famous painters.
Or you could visit Woodend Mill off Manchester Road later this month for a two-day exhibition which is steadily gaining ‘must see’ status.
The Spring Exhibition and Open Studios weekend takes place on April 22 and April 23.
It’s organised by leading local artists Gordon Clegg and Chris Cyprus plus renowned photography, Kiran Mistry.
More than 1,000 people visited the 2016 event and the trio are hopeful of increasing that number this year.
“We originally started the exhibition as a response to the number of art galleries and libraries closing,” explained Gordon, 70, who only recently vacated his Woodend studio after more than a decade.
“But at the start there wasn’t a lot for visitors to see. Since then we have broadened it out to what it is today.
“This year we are taking over the first floor of the mill with 30 display boards measuring 8ft x 4ft.
“The public can come along, browse the paintings, buy some of them if they wish and also chat to the artists about their works; something you wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to do at normal exhibitions.”
Gordon and his fellow organisers are taking submissions from artist wishing to exhibit during the weekend.
There is limited space and anyone interested is asked to contact Gordon on 07719 311493 or email Gordon.email@example.com
So, forget the National Portrait Gallery and the Louvre, Woodend Mill is the place to visit to see some of the area’s most creative talents.
