MILTON St John’s ended St George’s monopoly of the Mossley Primary Schools’ Olympics.
Milton won the event, staged by the Mossley and Carrbrook Schools’ Partnership at Mossley Hollins High School, for the first-ever time in its nine-year existence.
They put an end to the dominance of St George’s, who had triumphed in each of the last three years.
Milton amassed 209 points from the events, javelin, long jump, egg and spoon, sack race, sprints and relays.
Buckton Vale (205 pts) were runners-up and St George’s (195) in third place.
Mossley Hollins teacher Vicky Dodd described it as the closest-ever finish to the Olympics with the event more competitive than it has ever been.
She added the atmosphere was much improved as spectators were allowed on to sports field.
In the past they had to watch from beyond the perimeter.
