‘Grow, learn and achieve’ at Livingstone

STAFF and governors at Livingstone Primary School are celebrating another successful year of living up to their school motto of ‘Grow, Learn, Achieve Together’.

Pupils who left in 2019 are now settling well into secondary school and the primary school looks forward to welcoming new pupils.

They recently held a successful open evening for prospective new pupils to their Nursery and Reception classes.

The school said: “We firmly believe every child in our school deserves the best possible start in life and our committed staff team work hard to ensure this.

“The children are at the forefront of everything planned in school as we look to support their development socially, emotionally and morally as well as academically.

“Our ethos aims to create determined, resilient learners who have high expectations of themselves and high aspirations for the future.

“We want students to leave us having achieved their potential, being supportive, kind and tolerant to others and ready for the next stage in their education.”

The school’s core values are to value each child as an individual, to ensure all are supported to achieve their best, to ensure children show care and consideration for others, and to ensure children are tolerant and respectful of others.

The school added: “Our Year 6 leavers last year achieved results that reflected their hard work and efforts as they prepared to move on to their next stage of learning, with results in reading and maths significantly above national average.

“Progress scores which compare the performance of our pupils against pupils nationally have also been released, showing Livingstone Primary School continue to be in the top five per cent of schools for reading and maths and are in the top 25 per cent for writing.

“These successes also come at the same time as the school has achieved better than national averages in the Year 1 phonics check for the last two years.

“In other areas, our Forest School continues to flourish following recent works to expand the classroom provision at the school.

“Our Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children have opportunity to spend time in the Forest School, developing creative links between nature and other curriculum areas, making leaf crowns, broomsticks, stick men and bird feeders.

“Livingstone Primary school continues to build on its successes and move forward, supporting children in the community to grow, learn and achieve individually and together.”
